Women's Cross Country Report (Week 7) - Spartans Win Manchester Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN - Manchester College's women's cross country squad closed out the regular season with a winning performance at the Manchester Invitational last Saturday.  The Spartans earned the title over 10 competing schools at the event.

Jessi Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) finished second overall to lead the black and gold, posting a time of 23:20.

Anderson University also competed, finishing fourth at the meet.  Sophomore Candace DeLong (Anderson, Ind./Frankton) placed 10th to lead the Ravens (24:21).

Franklin was one of six HCAC schools running at the Wilmington Fall Classic on Friday evening.  The Grizzlies finished fourth among the 25 schools running, leading the HCAC effort.  Junior Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) finished first among the 244 runners with another career-best 5K mark of 18:38.81.

Rose-Hulman placed seventh at the meet and was led by Melissa Rogers (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) fourth place finish.  The senior finished the 5K course in a time of 19:01.35.

Hanover, Transylvania, Bluffton, and Mount St. Joseph also ran at Wilmington.  The Panthers turned in an 11th place finish, while the Pioneers placed 17th, the Beavers 22nd, and the Lions 23rd.

Defiance College placed 24th at the 25 team Oberlin Invitational Saturday morning.

All squads will be off this weekend in preperation for the HCAC Championships on October 31 at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
