Women's Cross Country Report (Week 3) - Franklin Leads HCAC Field at Little State

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College placed fifth among the 14 schools competing at the Indiana Little State meet in Terre Haute last Friday.  The Grizzlies earned 145 points at the meet which was won by DePauw University.

Junior Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) posted another great finish, placing fifth at the meet with a time of 19:18.  Waterman led all HCAC runners and was named the conference's Runner of the Week.

Rose-Hulman finished right behind the Grizzlies in sixth position.  The Engineers were led by Melissa Rogers (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont), who turned in a time of 19:50 to finish 14th.

Manchester placed seventh in Terre Haute and was led by Jessi Bremer's (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) seventh place finish.  Bremer posted a time of 19:32 to place second among HCAC runners.

Anderson placed 10th, while Hanover earned a 12th place finish.

Transylvania turned in a very impressive showing with a third place finish at the 13-team Berea Invitational.  Betsey Heines (Shepherdsville, Ky./North Bullitt) was the top finisher for the Pioneers, posting a time 21:24 to finish fourth.

Defiance and Bluffton also competed on the busy cross country weekend.  The Yellow Jackets and Beavers competed at the Cedarville Invitational Saturday with DC finishing 14th and BU 15th among the 16 schools.

The upcoming weekend is the lightest on the cross country schedule this season with only three schools competing.  Bluffton welcomes Defiance for the Bluffton Invitational, while Rose-Hulman will compete at Otterbein.
