Women's Cross Country Report (Week 7) - Spartans Win Manchester Invitational

GREENWOOD, IN - Manchester College's women's cross country squad closed out the regular season with a winning performance at the Manchester Invitational last Saturday.  The Spartans earned the title over nine competing schools at the event.

Sophomore Meredith Cors (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial) finished second overall to lead the black and gold, posting a time of 23:05.70.  Seniors Megan Miller (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) and Jessica Bremer (Howe, Ind./Prairie Heights) also placed in the top five at the meet, finishing fourth (23:13.40) and fifth (23:21.10) respectively.

Hanover was one of nine HCAC schools running at the Wilmington Fall Classic on Friday evening.  The Panthers finished ninth among the 31 schools running, leading the HCAC effort. Rachel Moreland (Lawton, Mich./H.S.) led HC with a 29th place finish, running the 5K course in 19:32.62.

Franklin's Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) finished first among the 319 runners with a meet record time of 18:14.58, leading the Grizzlies to an 11th place finish.  Waterman won her fifth HCAC Runner of the Week award this fall.

Defiance placed 12th at the meet and was led by Kaitlin Switzer's (Defiance, Ohio/H.S.) 40th place finish.  The senior finished the 5K course in a time of 19:57.43.

Rose-Hulman, Transylvania, Anderson, Earlham, Mount St. Joseph and Bluffton also ran at Wilmington.  The Engineers turned in an 18th place finish, while the Pioneers placed 19th, the Ravens 25th, the Quakers 26th, and the Lions 27th.  Bluffton did not post a team score at the event.

All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on October 30 at Transylvania University.
