Franklin's Waterman Places 37th at NCAA Division III National Meet

WAVERLY, IA – Franklin College’s Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) finished 37th in today’s 2010 NCAA Division III women’s cross country national championship meet at Max Cross Country Course at Wartburg College.
The FC senior standout posted a time of 21:47 in the 6-kilometer race that featured 16 teams and 64 runners from additional schools. Waterman’s finishing spot of 37th was just two shy of automatically earning Division III All-America status.
Manchester's Megan Miller (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) also competed in the women's race, placing 131st overall with a time of 22:39.2.
In the men's race, Rose-Hulman's Tyler Kreipke (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) represented the HCAC with a 119th place finish (25:35.0) in the 8K race.
Waterman, a three-time All-Heartland Conference runner and the conference’s Most Valuable Runner this year and last fall, automatically qualified for the NCAA national event by finishing sixth among 230 runners with a time of 21:47 in the D-III Great Lakes Regional at Hope College in Holland, Mich. on Nov. 13. The senior earned an individual berth in the NCAA-III nationals for the second consecutive year, breaking her own 6-K school record.
