GREENWOOD, IN -Hanover College led the HCAC contingent at the annual Sodexho Grizzly Invitational this past Saturday, placing third in the six team event. The Panthers finished behind second place Campbellsville and first place Wilmington. Host Franklin placed fourth overall, while Earlham finished fifth.
Franklin's Heather Waterman (Shelbyville, Ind./Morristown) ran to a first place finish for the second straight year at the meet. Waterman finished with a career-best time of 18:19.74 on the 5K course, finishing just two seconds off Franklin’s 5K school record of 18:17.
Hanover was paced by Shawna McLetchie (Lexington, Ky./Catholic) who finished ninth overall in the event (20:19.09).
Earlham College finished fifth in their first meet as a member of the HCAC. The Quakers were led by freshman Maddie Fega (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) who placed tenth overall (20:22.18) in her first collegiate meet.
Rose-Hulman and Anderson competed at the Wabash Hokum Karem Saturday. The Engineers finished fifth in the event, while the Ravens placed sixth. Rose's Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) and Katherine Quigg (Chillicothe, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) teamed for a tenth place finish in the event (24:32) to lead all HCAC runners.
This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Defiance and Hanover Invitational. Bluffton and Defiance will compete at Defiance, while Hanover and Franklin will battle in southern Indiana.
In other action, Manchester will travel to Bowling Green and Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania compete at the Queen City Invitational.
