Women's Cross Country Report (Week 6) - Hanover Leads DIII Field at Disney

GREENWOOD, IN - Despite rain and wind, the Hanover College women’s cross country squad turned in a strong performance against a largely Division I and Division II field at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic. The meet was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida

Senior Sara Lucas (Avon, Ind./H.S.) paced the team to a 12th place finish overall. The Panthers were the top NCAA Division III school in the 28-team field.

Lucas completed the 5K course in a career-best time of 19:58.90, placing 40th in the individual standings.

Franklin College placed third in the team standings in Saturday's Lucian Rosa Invitational at Wisconsin-Parkside.  Freshman Hillary Cain (Rushville, Ind./H.S.) finished third among all individuals, covering the challenging 5K course with a time of 19:30 for the Grizzlies.

Rose-Hulman hosted the Gibson Family Invitational in Terre Haute Saturday.  The Engineers placed 11th overall, while Manchester College placed fifth in the team standings.

Manchester's Karla Madrigal (Elkhart, Ind./Central) finished 12th overall at the meet, finishing the course in 24:24.

Rose-Hulman was paced by a 47th place finish by freshman Nicole Gonzalez (Camarillo, Cali./H.S.), completing the course in 26:25.

The upcoming weekend is the final weekend of action before the HCAC Championships on October 29 at Anderson University.  Anderson, Defiance, Franklin, Hanover, Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman, and Transylvania will all compete at the Wilmington Fall Classic Friday afternoon, while Manchester and Earlham will run at the Manchester Invitational Saturday morning. Bluffton is also in action at Oberlin Saturday.
