Women's Cross Country Report (Week 7) - Franklin Places 8th at Wilmington

GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College contended with less than ideal weather conditions to finish eighth among 26 teams in the Wilmington Fall Classic women’s cross country meet last weekend.  Ohio State won the team title with 83 points. 

Freshman Hillary Cain (Rushville, Ind./H.S.) paced the Grizzlies with a career-best time of 19:00 on the 5K course.  Cain placed 10th overall at the meet.

Anderson, Defiance, Hanover, Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman, and Transylvania also competed at Wilmington Friday afternoon. 

Hanover finished right behind the Grizzlies, placing ninth overall.  Senior Rachel Moreland (Lawton, Mich./H.S.) finished 24th out of 241 runners at the meet, covering the course with a time of 19:30.47.

Anderson placed 14th overall and was followed by RHIT (18th), Transy (19th), Defiance (20th), and Mount St. Joseph (23rd).

Manchester College hosted the eight-team Manchester Invitational Saturday morning.  The host Spartans placed third overall in the standings, while Earlham placed 6th overall.

MC's Karla Madrigal (Elkhart, Ind./Central) finished third overall with a time of 23:41.1 to lead the black and gold.

All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on October 29 at Anderson University.
