Women's Cross Country Report (Week 1) - Hanover Places Second at Franklin Invite

GREENWOOD, IN -Hanover College led the HCAC contingent at the annual Franklin Invitational this past Saturday, placing second in the six team event.  The Panthers finished behind first place Wilmington.  Host Franklin placed third overall, while Earlham finished fifth.

Franklin's Hillary Cain (Rushville, Ind./H.S.) ran to a third place finish and was the highest finishing HCAC running at the meet.  Cain finished with a time of 19:26.62 on the 5K course, finishing 21 seconds behind the champion.

Hanover was paced by Rachel Moreland (Lawton, Mich./H.S.) who finished sixth overall in the event (20:36.22).

Earlham College finished fifth at the meet.  The Quakers were led by sophomore Maddie Fega (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) who placed 15th overall (21:22.48).

Anderson and Rose-Hulman competed at the Wabash Hokum Karem Saturday.  The Ravens finished fifth in the event, while the Engineers placed sixth.  AU's Candace DeLong (Anderson, Ind./Frankton) and Heather Quinlan (Brookville, Ind./Franklin Co.) teamed for a tenth place finish in the event (24:40) to lead all HCAC runners. 

This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Defiance and Hanover Invitational.  Bluffton and Defiance will compete at Defiance, while Hanover, Franklin, and Rose-Hulman will battle in southern Indiana.

In other action, Manchester will travel to the GLCA Championships and Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania compete at the Queen City Invitational.
