GREENWOOD, IN- The Earlham College women's
cross country team won its first meet of the year on
Saturday. The Quakers won the Earlham Invitational with 29
points, holding off Anderson University as the Ravens placed second
with 32 points.
Senior Maddie Fega (Amherst, Mass./H.S.) was second in the 5K race to lead the Quakers with a time of 21:28. Anderson's Margo Sinclair (Olathe, Kan./Northwest) won the individual title with a time of 21:25.
Bluffton, Defiance, and Mount St. Joseph competed at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon. The Jackets earned a 17th place finish, while the Beavers and Lions placed 18th and 21st among the 21 team field.
Hanover, Manchester, and Rose-Hulman took part in the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals at Hanover. The Spartans led the HCAC contingent with a 14th place finish.
Rose-Hulman's Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) led the conference runners, placing 26th out of 228 runners with a 6K time of 23:27.68. The time marks the third top time in Rose-Hulman history.
Franklin and Transylvania were also in action Saturday, competing at the Greater Louisville Meet. The Grizzlies finished 15th among the 38 schools, while the Pioneers did not post a team score.
Franklin and Rose-Hulman will run at the Rose-Hulman Invitational Saturday, while Mount St. Joseph will compete at the Walt Disney World Classic in Orlando.
