GREENWOOD, IN- Rose-Hulman senior Ryann-Rebecca Montgomery (Lafayette, La./Episcopal School of Acadiana) set a new school record and finished second in a field of 397 runners at the #JennaStrong Fall Classic at Wilmington College on Friday afternoon.
Montgomery ran a five-kilometer time of 18:34 to finish second overall in a field that included NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA teams. The time was 20 seconds ahead of the school record set by Rachel Krasich in 2007.
Hanover College was the top finishing HCAC school at Wilmington, placing 15th in the standings. The Panthers were followed by Anderson who placed 20th. Franklin (22nd), Rose-Hulman (23rd), Defiance (26th), and Transylvania (NTS) rounded out the conference schools.
Manchester University played host to the Spartan Invitational Saturday. The host Spartans placed 3rd in the team standings, finishing behind St. Mary's and Calvin. Earlham was also in action, finishing fourth at the event.
Bluffton University competed at the Oberlin Invitational Saturday, placing 15th among the 31 schools.
All squads will be off this weekend in preparation for the HCAC Championships on November 2 at Defiance College.
