TERRE HAUTE, IN -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will host the 2015 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Women's Cross Country Regional on Saturday at the Lavern Gibson Championship Course.
Rose-Hulman will host the event at the nation's premier NCAA cross country course which has hosted more than 10 NCAA Division I national championships.
The Great Lakes Regional features over 40 teams that will hope to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. The top two finishing teams receive an automatic trip to the NCAA Division III Championships in Wisconsin next weekend, with the remaining teams funneled into an at-large pool for additional selections. In addition, the top seven individual runners who are not part of teams that ultimately qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships will also compete in Wisconsin.
Hope is currently ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region poll entering this weekend's action. Other ranked teams include Calvin, Otterbein, Case Western Reserve, Allegheny (Pa.), John Carroll, Oberlin, DePauw, Mount Union and Ohio Wesleyan. The top five finishing teams in 2014 were Calvin, Oberlin, Mount Union, Hope and Case Western Reserve.
The six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m., with awards to follow at 1:30 p.m. Admission is available for Saturday's meet for $5. No pets or drones are allowed inside the Lavern Gibson Championship Course or at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.
