GREENWOOD, IN - Manchester University led the HCAC field at the annual Franklin Invitational this past Saturday, placing first in the 11 team event. The Spartans held off Hanover by 16 points to win the meet.
Manchester University’s Mariah Jordan (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won the individual title at the meet. The junior led the Spartans to the team title with her winning mark of 22:58.59, beating the field by over 25 seconds.
Hanover College finished behind the Spartans and earned a second place finish. Senior Teresa Wiczynski (Columbus, Ind./East) led the Panthers with a seventh place finish in the standings (24:11.8).
Franklin College placed third at their meet, finishing just seven points behind rival Hanover. Senior Ashley Myers (Edinburgh, Ind./H.S.) led the Grizzlies effort, finishing fourth with a time of 24:08.7.
Anderson (4th), Mount St. Joseph (7th), Defiance (8th), and Earlham (10th) round out the standings.
This weekend is a light schedule for the conference schools. Anderson and Franklin will compete at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, while Transylvania will run at Centre.
