The Panthers came into the championship battle as the No. 2 seed, facing off against the No. 1 seeded Mount St. Joseph University. Hanover scored first in just the fourth minute of action when Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) snuck one past the Lions net minder. It would take the Mount nearly the duration of regulation to find the equalizer, but Catherine Hatfield (Batavia, Ohio) buried a Haley Trittschuh (Dayton, Ohio) set up to knot the contest at 1-1.

Following two overtime periods, the score was still tied, forcing a penalty shootout. The Panthers came out on top in PKs, by a margin of 4-3. For her efforts in goal for the Panthers, Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) was named the 2021 HCAC Most Outstanding Player.

Hanover earns the conference's automatic qualification bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. The field for the championship will be announced Monday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., with the opening rounds scheduled for Nov. 13-14, 2021 at a location to be announced by the NCAA.
